A general note on CENTAC JET entrance examination

The centralised admission commission Pondicherry admission (CENTAC) is inviting applications for admissions into the first year B.Tech, M.B.B.S, B.A.M.S, B.D.S, B.Sc, B.Pharm etc degree courses for the year 2014-2015. The CENTAC admissions to the above courses are offered by the colleges run by the societies of the Government and seats offered by the other states is centralised and done by the centralised admissions committee – CENTAC, Government of Puducherry.  

CENTAC admission to the ‘Government Quota seats’ in Private and unaided professional colleges including the minority colleges is done as per the law/regulation /order of the government of India or of the Government of Puducherry on the subject. The details regarding the colleges and the number of seats are made available at the time of counselling. The admission to the above courses is based on the performance of the candidates in the higher secondary or the equivalent board examination.

The procedure for seeking admissions to the stipulated courses in the various institutions consists of the following.

1.       Submission of the admission applications to CENTAC or to the designated authorities, as the case may be.

2.       Attending the counselling for the mentioned course on the said date at the notified date, time and place.

CENTAC eligibility criteria

CENTAC admissions to any course, the candidate should fulfil the necessary admission requirements for the respective degree courses as prescribed by the Pondicherry University. 

1.       Biology based degree courses

2.       B.P.T degree courses

3.       B.Sc Nursing degree courses

4.       B.Tech degree course

5.       B.Pharm degree course

 Permitted number of appearances in the qualifying examination

The maximum number of appearances permitted to pass the qualifying examination for admissions to various degree courses for different categories of candidates are given below. 

M.B.B.S – one for SC/ST, one for OBC/BCM/MBC/EBC/BT, one for others

B.Tech – three attempts for SC/ST, two attempts for OBC/BCM/MBC/EBC/BT, two for others

B.P.T- no restriction for any category

B.Pharm – no restriction for any category

B.Sc (Nursing) - no restriction for any category

Degrees and courses for CENTAC 2014

The details of the courses and number of seats against each college run by the societies of the government of Puducherry coming under the preview of the CENTAC. 

Duration of the courses

The duration of the courses for the M.B.B.S is 4 and half hours and one year internship. The course of B.A.M.S is also 4 and half years and one year internship. The BDS is 4 years and one year compulsory internship. The BPT and B.Sc (Nursing) are the two courses of duration 4 years.
